Bye bye little house!

Well. Not bye bye yet! But we are moving to Japan. And we are very excited. We are not sure yet of what's going to happen to our little house, but I will follow the move here, and maybe another blog.

I will say when my husband, who was in Korea at the time, messaged one night and said they had asked him if he wanted a job in Japan, I was excited! He asked me how to reply, and I said YES!!!!! Within 24 hours orders were in the system and complete. I don't know if the military has ever made something happen that fast for us!

In the days that followed I dove in for info, and honestly it's not just our 9th house move, it's much more when you PCS overseas. Almost each day I try to do something in regards to the move. Just as we were winding towards military retirement, here we are on a grand adventure!!!

Cookies, Candies, Treats, and Super Cute Cakes, Oh My!

During the holidays, my wonderful friend Bobbie brought us this wonderful and delightful treat filled jar! It was SO yummy and all handmade. My favorites were the peanut butter balls...superb! And now I have my corn mill in the jar and it just is great to have a reminder of her all year round!

The girls and I made cookies one day. It was nice. We only made enough (not a whole batch) for us to enjoy. It was simple and fun not trying to make dozens of things and being exhausted!

My Aunt sent us a HUGE yummy tub of popcorn. The flavors sounded crazy to the ears, but the pallet said they were splendid! It was a blessing!!!! And the box was so cute as you opened it!

My birthday cake this year. It was the best chocolate cake I have ever had. I got it at Whole Foods. The size is PERFECT. It was "tiny" (6") and was more than enough. And I was overjoyed with how cute it was.

Beautiful Things

There are many physical things on the created earth that are just beautiful, however I am partial lately to flowers. They contribute in their unique way to the ecosystem, and are a reminder to me of  how the Lord wants us to stop, relax, and take pocketfuls of moments in our lives to enjoy His lovely creation. I literally stop and smell the flowers somewhat frequently and try to just let the beauty and fragrance wash over me. Here are some recent flowers I had the delight to have in my home!

Corn Chowder

So the other day my husband made some corn chowder soup...much like something he had eaten on the plane from Japan.  It was simply delicious! It had hominey which added so much earthy depth to the flavor. The squash made it pretty.

Christmas -Plain & Simple

So I am not a fan of Christmas decorations. It is just my personal preference. But I am a mother to little girls who don't share the same view! So this year I got a tree! Simplifying for us means a small home, and not much room for loads of decorations!

So this year we kept it simple in size and budget. One box of tree decor, one 4' tree, one bundle of live garland, 6 small live poinsettias, and a few little things to sit here and there. Oh, and a shower curtain that was just too cute!

Here is out little tree (it has lights!)

This is our garland that was strung over our bookcases. I am a big fan of real garland.

We had fun decorating! It was a great memory maker with our children.

It took us just an hour or so and we were all done. It was fun and will be easy to take down too!

White Chicken Chili

White Chicken Chili is SO good! I love it over mashed potatoes. It is so easy and so yummy on a cold day.
It is:
Chicken Bullion
Onion
Chicken Breasts
Canned Navy Beans (DO NOT DRAIN..add the whole can..the "goopiness" helps to give it texture)
Diced Green Chilies (don't drain)
Dice chicken and onion. Add beans, chillies, chicken bullion and some water. Season to your liking. Cook on high 4ish hours :)
